What is the JVAP?

Joint Valletta Action Plan (JVAP) is a set of political and operational measures to enhance cooperation between African and European countries with the aim to provide a framework for humane and sustainable management of migration on both sides of the Mediterranean.

JVAP was adopted at the Valletta Summit on 11-12 November 2015 which marked the beginning of an intensified partnership between Africa and the European Union in regard to migration management. The Action Plan is drawing on the recommendations of the Rabat Process and the Khartoum Process and provides a set of political and operational measures.
